About This Content Western Pacific’s Feather River Canyon route is one of the most famous, scenic, and highly-engineered railroad lines in all of North America. The Western Pacific was a late comer to America’s railroad scene – WP was not incorporated to build its main line from Salt Lake City to the San Francisco Bay Area until 1903, and its final spike was not driven until 1909. As a result, the Western Pacific was constructed to exceptional engineering standards that featured numerous high trestles, bridges, and tunnels, and a routing that topped the rugged Sierra Nevada Mountains with an eastbound ruling grade of 1 percent. Train Simulator’s Feather River Canyon route recreates the dramatic Western Pacific main line from Oroville to Quincy Junction, California, as it existed in the late 1960s and early 1970s and the route also includes a segment of the Inside Gateway (Western Pacific’s important connection with the Great Northern and later Burlington Northern) from Keddie to Crescent Mills, as well as the trackage of the lumber-hauling Quincy Railroad short line. The route brings to life the remarkable locations and features of the Feather River Canyon, including famous Keddie Wye and Spanish Creek trestle, bustling Oroville yard and roundhouse, the iconic rail and road bridges of Pulga, and the nearly countless tunnels, such as the “Honeymoon Tunnels” near Belden, that Western Pacific’s visionary builders used to form the WP into a railroad engineering marvel.Included with the Feather River route are General Electric U30B and EMD F7 diesels in Western Pacific’s flashy orange and silvery livery and a selection of period-authentic freight rolling stock including a Western Pacific bay-window caboose. A great route, very detailed. However, as a passenger fan I am always disappointed when a USA route is created with only locos and freight stock. Surely it would be easy to add a passenger consist in WP livery. "California Zephyr" for example. As a real Railroad Engineer, I must say this route has instantly won favour with me. Dovetail Games have raised the bar and the realism in operating a real locomotive is very high.This is amazing and if you want some nice scenery with good freight operations this is it. If you are a pure passenger buff this probably won't interest you.But most railroad fans are not just into passenger trains.The quality of this route is lovely.I would give it 9.8\/10.. Very nicely done and beautiful scenery....probably the best scenery addition I own. With that said, if you don't like or want realistic scenery, then this isn't for you. Most of the route is single track with speed at 25 mph. No fast rail here and not a lot of other traffic. I've never driven trains in real life, however, this is exactly what I would expect if I did......a lot of time and challenges of hauling heavy freight over track while enjoying the beauty of nature!! I've only owned this package for about a week, however, it has become and will be a favorite of mine for a long time to come!!!. The bar has been raised - by far this is one of the most beautiful routes in all of Train Simulator. The scenery, the locos and rolling stock and the level of detail are just top notch. Kudos to DTG! Please make all future DLC of this quality. This route is worth every penny.. AWESOME ROUTE !. Firstly, this a beautiful route, fabulous scenery and very nicely done throughout.The U boat locos are fine, the horn is a bit weak, but the physics are fine.The FP loco included ain't so good, it's a bit dated to be honest, it runs well enough, but the horn and engine sounds are rubbish. You can turn on the cab light, but it makes no diff to the illumination in the cab, it's pointless.There is only one scenario for the FP loco and it is set in fog and snow, there should be more.In regards the U boat scenarios, there seem to be a few bugs with the AI, that make at least two of the scenarios unable to be finished, a real drag.Keep in mind that the entire route is set to an average of 25 mph, so there ain't much excitement apart from trying to keep it as close as you can to the speed limit, on a line of this length it can become tedious, but it is what it is.Then there are 8 of the useless railfan scenarios that require no skill at all and are a total waste of time.So a bit of a mix up, a few good scenarios a couple that don't work and a poorly done FP loco.Yet in spite of its failings, it's a nice route for a long leisurely quick drive. It's worth getting at the sale price, but due to its failings I'd have been well ticked off at the full price.. The best route I've seen from Dovetail. I love everything exept the fact that the Southern Pacific part of the route isn't there and that the old route isn't there. Would love to see the Old Route in the Map. Also, why isn't there a Free Roam Scenario?I give this route a 8\/10;Positive- Amazing Details. (+0.5)- Lovely Loco's and Rolling Stock. (+1)- Big map. (+1)- 3D Train tracks .(+2)- Custom assets. The scenery is very realistic, and they have done a excellent modelling job! If you want to get a Mounatin route, get this!. Very impressive route that DTG ever made! The locos are great and very well placed scenery everywhere especially it being a mountian rotue.
