About This Game "Feed me, or I'll reap your soul!"And with those ridiculous words, my whole life was turned upside down.Sakuraba Rie, aged nine, is a cynical and grumpy girl who cares little for her fellow classmates, and does not have a single friend. That is, until a self-proclaimed demon from the deepest, darkest pits of Hell suddenly appears in Rie's kitchen and steals a tray of cookies. What will happen between these two young girls? Will friendship blossom between them, or perhaps something more? That is up to the reader to decide - but rest assured, no matter what, there will lots and lots of delicious food! From Ebi-Hime, creator of "Asphyxia" and "The Way We ALL GO" comes "Strawberry Vinegar" a slice-of-life story with food, cute demons, yuri, and more food. 7aa9394dea Title: Strawberry VinegarGenre: Adventure, Casual, IndieDeveloper:ebi-himePublisher:ebi-himeRelease Date: 5 Jan, 2016 Strawberry Vinegar Free Download This game is arounf 4-5 hours long. Depending on your reading speed, really. Also it doesn't have a serious plot but instead gives you a sweet, fluffy, heartwarming and charming story of two cute girls who gains friendship and eats lots of nice looking food. Artwork is very nice, it gives you lots of CGs, although most of it focuses on the dishes itself as a warning. I definately recomend this for people who wants to read something lighthearted yet engaging.. After really liking Ebi-Hime's free VNs on Steam, I had high expectation for this one. Sadly... This game never live up to them. The main characters feels shallow, it's full of otaku references (a turn off for me) and the story is just... Totally not interesting. The humor really feels forced, the romance too. I quite forced myself to finish it, in hope of seeing something interesting. Nope! I can give some points for the cute drawings, the great food drawings AND descriptions. Other than that, meh. The soundtrack is pretty forgettable too.. The soundtrack is pretty forgettable too.. I love this game to pieces. It's a nice little game about a nine year old girl, far too mature and cynical for her age, who gets forced into cooking for a little demon. The writing is great, providing both charming characters and fun humor, as well as descriptions of food that makes you want to try eat the screen. As a slice-of-life VN it works really great, and the epilogues were surprisingly rewarding. (Wish there was more epilogue, I want to see even more of that romance.) One thing I personally would want to highlight is the parents of the main characters and the relationship they share. The mother and father are living in a BDSM relationship that seems to impact every aspect of their everyday life, something their daughter notices and reflects on. The father is really submissive, and basically functions as a cute housewife living to serve his mistress. The childs perspective on their parents BDSM relationship is really interesting in itself, and her insight provides some character growth to her parents. I really wasn't expecting this from a yuri VN that seemed to only be about fluff and food, but I adored what I got.One of my main personal negatives would be the age of the main characters. With characters as young as nine years old I found it hard to relate to the romance. However, with them both being far too mature for their age it never felt like they were as child-like as you would expect children who actually were nine, so that could really help those of us who have a hard time relating to romance between kids. (And the epilogue is fantastic, which totally helps. Did I mention the epilogue being good?)(For anyone ever planning on making their own game like this:) The user interface can't seem to decide on whether to call the settings for "Preferences" or "Options". This is a minor problem with a minor fix; having consistent naming for screens and tools in UIs generally makes using it flow more smoothly for users.. Oh my God, this game.Firstly, it's not written by a Japanese person so don't expect there to be any Japanese text in the options (which is not necessarily bad, just pointing it out).Secondly, the little girl in here is so freaking sarcastic and apathetic she could easily be diagnosed as a psychopath. It's actually pretty sad because she and her mother treat the father like an idiot (whom they both call an idiot) and he kind of is. Also, gender roles are reversed and though I usually welcome something so refreshing the way this game portrayed it was a little cringeworthy. The positives? Artwork is adorable and really helps cover up some of the dark♥♥♥♥♥♥in this game. The food is also drawn freaking amazingly and I'm starving just looking at it.It's not too much money if you pick it up on sale. Got it for three bucks. Worth it if you just want to chill with a sadistic game about food and demons and people with demonic tendencies. But man, the father just really makes me sad...but he's happy...right?P.S.The grammar and strange sentence structure in the game was bit of a turnoff.. The golden combi of Ebi-Hime and SillySelly did it again. This time is a wonderful and adorable tale about a young demon daily and a little cynical girl meeting and building a relationship (being friendhip or a lovely romance), lots of delicious food and the weirdly in love couple of the complete opposites parents of the girl.Rie is content with her life. Yeah, she maybe is a loner, but she prefer it that way. And yes, she's maybe a bit cynical, but she's happy that way. That's it until a little Demon Girl arrives at her kitchen, eats her just baked cookies and threaths her to reap her soul.Unless she feed it with delicious food! For a week, Licia, the Little Demon lives with Rie and her parents. Slowly they became close and if you play you cards right a beautiful friendship can blossom. Or even maybe the sweetests love!!And of course, we gonna see the most delicious food, after all, we don't want our souls reaped, right?I must confess that after getting killed in a bad end (I kinda deserved, even if was a bit of a disproportionate retribution, for being a jerk!) and seeing that the yuri was advertised as small, light and so I stopped playing and forgot about the game. But Hanako (Hella Yuri curator), tell me recently that Strawberry Vinegar was rewarding in regards to yuri. So I gave it another try...And it delivered in a wonderful way. I got the romance ending in my first try and was wonderful. The building with Rie doubts and cold facade cracking was amazing. (And the yuri fangirl noticing was so funny and cute, Mayuri, you're top tier Sis!).And the ending. Was VERY rewarding!! I can't thank enough Ebi-Hime and SIllySelly for making it and Hanako for pushing me a bit to finish it.Was ADORABLE!!! Loved it!!Long story short:The good:- Absolutely adorable and wonderful art, a given being SillySelly the artist.- A lovely cute story with plenty of fun moments.- A very adorable and beautiful romance path- Quicky and loveable characters. (The weird couple that Rie's parents make is pretty fun and endearing).- The food! The bad:- Don't play with empty stomachPS: I want an spinoff of Mayuri and Hime... yeah, I ship two background characters with not even faces.. Strawberry Vinegar is a short and sweet VN about food and demons. While this seems like an odd theme for a VN, it works out surprisingly well. ebi-hime's VN's never fail to deliver an interesting story packed with emotion and solid writing. You follow the story of Rie, a nine year old girl who is not fond of other people. Licia, a demon of gluttony, appears to her one day threatening to take her soul if Rie doesn't feed her. The two bond over various sweets and foods, leaving player choice to decide what their bond turns into. Overall the story is very cute with a very fitting fluffy pastry theme and features a potential friendship and/or romance between younger characters which is not too common in most VN's I've read. As with most of ebi-hime's cuter novels, there's a fair share of sadness and comedy as well as sweet mushy romance. The VN makes for a nice mix of unique combonations that somehow work perfectly together. My one biggest complaint about this VN is that the additional content found in the author's notes was scrapped. There was so much potential for Licia to have sisters for every sin (she herself representing gluttony), and while they had designs and names planned out they were removed. I would have loved to see a longer cut of this VN with their story lines added, or maybe a sequel with otome elements and additonal characters. Speaking of the additional content, the art is very pleasing to look at, and the music gives the story just a little bit more life. While it may not be everyone's preferred anime-esque style it certainly is a favorite of mine and really ties the entire VN together. I always have high praises for ebi-hime's visual novels, and Strawberry Vinegar is no different. If you like cute romance stories, VNs about food or demons (or both), give this one a read and check out ebi-hime's other work as well.. I've played ton's of VN's, Don't always write reviews on them.. just the one's that stand out the extra mile! Strawberry Vinegar was cute all the way through! I try to limit my screen shots to a limited amount per game but unfortunately with this one I just couldn't stop.. the food in this game looked SO GOOD!! Beautiful game, beautiful artwork, a decent story, really hard not to like it & rate it up! :) I love cooking & with this, I was just too excited to see what meal would come up next.. I even had to find real recipes online for some and make them myself at home to enjoy. Opened up a totally new dinner menu for me this month ;) <3. When I bought this game, I thought it was going to be just like other visual novels, but I wasn't prepared for the amount of cuteness in this game! The are style is fantastic and beautiful. The music was really great and each character going through different emotions was wonderful. The different routes you can take in the game was amazing because you can either get a bad ending or a good ending and I think this game was really funny a lot of the time and was an enjoyable experience and I would gladly recommend this game and play it over and over!.
